I ran in the Groton Road Race this weekend, & there were a few takeaways (as we called them in consulting):
- I really enjoy accruing a t-shirt collection from races. I'd like to run in enough of these that people started teasing me about always wearing race shirts.
- This race was hilly & it kicked my butt. I can run all day where it's flat, but incline running is a whole 'nother skill, & I don't have it. That's my goal for this summer.
- These races seem to be a highly social affair, especially for the older runners. I'd really like to be in a running club eventually. The folks I've met through running are all fun to talk to.
- Having spectators cheer for me is very inspiring, but it's even more useful if they can also update me on the score of the Red Sox game in progress.
