We are now in the "Alex Running Middle Distance Races" era. I consider middle distance 10K to half-marathon.
I had a lot of fun running the Groton Road Race a couple of months ago, so I check Active.com and found some other fun races to run this summer and fall. I ran the New Charles River Run last week. I did pretty well, although I missed the gun by a few minutes, so my posted time doesn't reflect my 8:43 minute/mile pace. That's what I get for showing up late.
As I look ahead on the running calendar, I'm most excited for the upcoming Big Man Run. It's a brilliant idea. Here's the rules (according to their website):
- You have to be +190 lbs. (there's a weigh-in on the day of the race)
- The race is 4.8 miles.
- You have to also stop by three aid stations whereby you have to stop and consume one 8-ounce beer and one hotdog/roll included--condiments optional
- You will also have to bring three single American Dollar Bills ($3.00) with you so that at each aid station you will be able to properly tip the waitress. Big Men always tip!! This Isn't cheap, this is BIG MAN! You will be disqualified in 2007 if you do not tip the saloon (3 cheapskates got kicked out & thoroughly embarrassed in 2006)
- Vomiting, Puking, Letting It Loose, Tossing Your Cookies or going to Framingham, call it whatever you want depending on what part of the World you will be traveling from (YOU ARE DISQUALIFIED AND WE DISQUALIFIED 7 in 2006)
This is going to be a blast!
[P.S. I didn't feel like paying $35 for this pic, so I'm just showing you the low res watermarked pic here]
