HBS Comment etiquette

I really REALLY hate when people speak with their eyes closed, and some of the worst offenders are my classmates.

Before some of the worst classroom comments I hear, I see the person shut their lids and say something pretentious like, "What I think everyone here is missing is..."

No one at this school is so smart that they should ever be acting like anything's obvious or like class is a waste of their time.

Bug hunting with my Fidus Achates First of all, here's what the term Fidus Achates means. That's what I got out of 4 years of high school Latin. Each night before bed, I go for a little bug hunt with the Little Man. He has a blast, even if we only catch anything 1 out of every 3 or 4 nights. He'll stalk around the bedroom and office looking for bugs on the ceiling. He can't reach the ceiling, even with his best jump, so he recruits our help. He hops on our backs, and implores us to stand underneath the bugs. He knocks them to the floor, tumbles after them, and then he tortures them until they confess. Then he eats them. I like the sense of tradition. It's like a bed time story. He can't end his day without it. Even if you try to skip it, he follows you around, and if you lean over the slightest bit, he jumps on your back and the hunt is on. The other funny thing about his hunting is that, when he catches a bug alive, he likes to toy with it for a while, batting it left and right, before he eventually kills it. Either this is built into his instincts, or it's payback for the time a spider bit his tongue. He freaked out that time, and I think he's taking it out his personal vendetta on every bug he comes across ever since. What a bad-ass! It's fun for the whole family.

Finally, my friends pick up on the trend Two of my friends started blogging in the last ~1 month. Scott Orn and David Vivero. I recommend reading both of them for the same reason: Their writing is good enough that, you can either quote them, or steal their ideas, in a conversation, and either way you sound wicked smart. I've been in enough ridiculous situations with Dr. Vivero that I have goofy pictures of him like the one to the right. Sadly, I have none of those when it comes to Dr. Orn, but he's been kind enough to publish his own, like the one to the left. UPDATE: I'm embarrassed to point out that I neglected to mention the hottest new blog to hit Europe: LondonLevys.Tumblr.com. My friends, Dan and Esther, have moved to London for a while, and are tracking their adventures through a slick Tumblr blog.
